Independent link-checking guide

Check an item link before you rely on its title, price or photos.

A useful record separates what is visible today from what has not been proven. Keep the source URL, observation date, selected variant and unresolved questions together before you continue to an external service.

The minimum useful record

Capture eight facts in the same note or comparison row.

If one of these fields is missing, mark it as unknown instead of filling the gap with an assumption.

01

Original source URL

Keep the seller or marketplace URL shown by the listing, not only the directory page that led to it.

02

Link status

Record whether the page loaded, redirected, required access, showed an error or no longer displayed the item.

03

Observation time

Add the date and time zone. Availability and displayed facts can change after your check.

04

Selected variant

Record the colour, size, model or bundle that matches the displayed price and photos you reviewed.

05

Price and currency

Copy the visible amount with its currency and date. Do not treat an old screenshot as a current price.

06

Visible source details

Note the displayed seller name or source domain without turning it into a reliability conclusion.

07

Image evidence

List what the product and quality-control photos visibly show, plus any missing angles or unreadable labels.

08

Unresolved limits

Keep unknown material, sizing, authenticity, stock, shipping and seller questions visible until independently answered.

How to read photo evidence

Describe observations; do not turn a photo into a guarantee.

A photo may show colour, proportions, stitching, a label, packaging or a visible defect. It cannot by itself prove composition, durability, authenticity, seller reliability or the condition of the item that will eventually arrive.

When several variants share one gallery, confirm that the image actually belongs to the selected size, colour or model before comparing it.

Visible

State what can be seen

Example: “The heel stitching is visible in the third image.”

Missing

Record absent evidence

Example: “No measurement chart or sole close-up was visible at the time checked.”

Unknown

Leave unsupported claims unresolved

Example: “Material composition and authenticity were not independently verified.”

Compare without mixing records

One row per source, variant and observation date.

Link-checking questions

Short answers for evidence that can change.

Does a page loading mean the item is available?

No. It only means the page responded. Confirm the selected variant, stock signal and current purchase path on the external service.

Can quality-control photos prove authenticity or material?

No. They can support visible observations, but authenticity, composition and durability require separate evidence.

Should I copy a seller rating into my comparison?

Only with the source and observation date, and without presenting it as this guide's endorsement. Rating systems and counts can change.

What if the source URL is missing?

Mark the source as unresolved. A directory entry without a traceable source is weaker evidence and should not be upgraded by assumption.

External handoff

Continue only after the record is clear enough for your decision.

FindsIndex is an external destination. Recheck its current page, access rules and listing facts when you arrive.
